Rukus showcases the latest in underground culture and independent artistry in Aotearoa. We want to revitalize our audience's enthusiasm for local artistry and emphasize the importance of subculture communities in Aotearoa.
Our first issue presents a lineup of art, music and culture that are breaking boundaries in our local communities. We examine Aotearoa's rave, graffiti and hardcore scenes and give a platform to local works of art, writing, music and photography.
A few highlights from our first issue include: Delving into the bunker raves in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. We dissect the state of the NZ hardcore scene with Tamaki Makaurau's post-hardcore band Carthage. Kezam, Capo and Nope join us to share their experiences on the Aotearoa graffiti scene.
