The quality of ordinary life I
Each book in this four-book set corresponds to a sequence displayed as a wall installation at the artist’s exhibition, The Quality of Ordinary Life, at Art Hole, Ōtautahi, in July 2020.
Part note-taking exercise, part visual assemblage, part alternative story-telling through colour, rhythm and texture, these books consider words and images we throw away, what happens when we change their contexts, and how materiality and media influence our interpretations. They reclaim a grammar of type, found materials, and the book form in order to question messages that quietly and ubiquitously influence the quality of ordinary life.
